Interwoven is a site-specific installation created by artists Lori Lipsman and Terri Hughes-Oelrich that explores the four geographic regions that comprise San Diego County. Lipsman and Hughes-Oelrich’s artistic practices are concerned with the connection and impact humans have on the environment. The core of the piece is composed of topographic maps spanning a cross-section of the county. Layered throughout the installation are ceramic sculptures of indigenous animals made from native clay, laser-cut engravings of local flora, wind directional arrows, and foraged natural materials that illustrate San Diego’s diverse and continually changing environment.
