As an Arts program coordinator at SAN, and with the support of my colleagues in other departments at SAN, we strive to make our customers’ travels more enjoyable by providing top-notch entertainment, bringing artists to perform all types of music on all different stages. One of the Arts Program’s favorite performers is Nico Hueso a violinist, guitarist, & electric bassist. He has been a guest soloist with the rock band Kansas for their 2011 Symphony Tour, has performed with Placido Domingo, rock band Disturbed, and members of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitclán & Nuevo Tecalitclán. He has also performed with tribute groups commemorating artists such as Otis Redding, and has collaborated with a number of up-and-coming pop and country artists, lending his skills as both a composer and studio musician. In addition to keeping a rigorous teaching and freelancing schedule, Hueso enjoys arranging, improvising and performing chamber music with his colleagues from Atlanta, San Diego, and Puerto Rico Symphonies.
The next time you see Nico performing at SAN stop and say hi! He is by far one of the most talented, down to earth, and super friendly performers you will ever see.
I hope you will check out this on-going Arts Program blog from time to time (Tony’s Blog), it is meant to give you an insight about the visual arts and performing arts at San Diego International Airport.
Tony Almanza, Arts Program Coordinator.
