RFQ Opportunity: Art Handling, Fabrication, and Installation Services

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is seeking statements of qualifications (“SOQ”) from firms or individuals to provide on-call public art handling, relocation, fabrication, and installation services primarily related to the Authority Capital Improvement Program and Airport Development Program at San Diego International Airport. Services might include, but are not limited to: packing, crating, and storing of artwork; transportation of artwork; installation and de-installation of artwork, including those of monumental scale; design, fabrication of custom attachments or structural support methods to facilitate artwork installation; permitting and consultation and cooperation with Authority, Design Builder team members, commissioned artists, and other stakeholders as designated by the Authority.

How to Register as a Vendor in PlanetBids

To register as a Vendor visit: https://www.san.org/business and complete the Vendor Registration. PlanetBids requires Adobe Flash. Please use the Google Chrome web browser to access PlanetBids on both Mac and PC. What you need to register:

  1. You will be asked to create a username and password, please write them down and save for reference
  2. Have your federal tax ID # or your SSN available
  3. Select the relevant Business Category:

236000  – Construction of Buildings

238000  – Specialty Trade Contractors

493000  – Warehousing and Storage

711510  – Independent Artists, Writers, and Performers

  1. Once you have successfully completed the registration process you will receive an e- mail confirming your successful registration. You will also receive notifications of all RFQs related to your business category.

To View and Apply for an Opportunity

  1. Visit https://www.san.org/business
  2. Select “Bid Opportunities”
  3. Find and select your interested artist opportunity OR type “art” in the keyword search bar
  4. Double click on the opportunity and a brief description will appear in the next screen
  5. To view the RFQ, select the “Documentation/Attachments” tab and double click on the RFQ underneath “File Name”
  6. Enter your vendor username and password and select “Download” to access the RFQ
  7. Read through the RFQ carefully and note the eligibility requirements
  8. When you are ready to apply, follow steps 1-4, select “Place eBid” at the bottom right-hand corner, and enter your vendor username and password.

*Follow directions carefully, complete and submit ALL required documents. The artist selection panel will only review responsive/completed submissions.
