Students in the visual arts program at Southwestern College were invited to learn about and participate in the early design phases of a public art commission process. These aspiring artists and designers toured the airport to learn about the public art collection and the unique considerations required when developing a project for the airport site. Working in groups, the class created conceptual artwork proposals inspired by San Diego's environment, culture, and architecture.
