Launched in 2016, the Arts Program’s Performing Arts Residency provides a platform for the development and performance of new work that simultaneously enriches the airport experience for customers and cultivates the regional performing arts community. Airport patrons are allowed the opportunity to witness performing artists as they create and refine their project, inspired by the airport environment, throughout the duration of the residency. Over the course of San Diego Dance Theatre’s six-month stay, spectators can expect contemporary dance, music, and interactive encounters to enliven the San Diego travel experience.
Founded in 1972 as a 501(c)3 professional modern dance company, San Diego Dance Theater (SDDT) has for 47 years enriched the cultural life of San Diego through countless shows and residencies, and training for young dancers.
